   2008-2009 Chapter Meetings/Programs Schedule


September 4, 2008      

The North Jersey 2008-2009 Kickoff Meeting will be presented by Michele Vogel CPS/CAP. The North Jersey President-Elect will recap highlights from the IAAP International Convention and Education Forum which she attended as delegate for the North Jersey Chapter in July in New Orleans.
Additionally, through an in-depth presentation of the Pathways to Excellence Program, she will demonstrate how we each can put our Excellence in Action as we pursue our goals to become individual Members of Excellence as well as making the North Jersey Chapter a Chapter of Excellence.

October 2, 2008

Women and Finance.  Ann Konasiewicz will be educating and empowering women to be more financially astute. Every attendee is offered the gift of a FREE financial analysis. 

November 6, 2008

Preparing for an Interview.  Jeff Klein, Staffing Manger of Century Staffing in Wayne will be presenting this timely topic and give tips to the audience regarding getting the salary increase they deserve.

Since this meeting date comes so close after the holidays, we forego a chapter meeting in January, take a short winter hiatus, and resume our meetings in February.

February 5, 2009

February is Heart Month. In keeping with this theme, St. Joseph"s Hospital will be hosting a program on Women's Health. Topics included in the presentation will include stress management and weight control. This timely topic will help educate us about the risks, provide strategies and increase our awareness of the signs of heart attacks and strokes.

Professional Certification - Proving Your Worth.  Phyllis Wooster CPS will be presenting an overview of the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) ratings.
Professional certification is a mark of excellence that demonstrates to your employer and your peers that you are committed to your profession and gives you a competitive edge for promotion and hiring in today's business world.

Administrative Professionals' Week (APW) Impact Meeting
For Our annual Administrative Professionals’ Week Event, Wayne Councilwoman, Ann Mary O'Rourke, will be our speaker.  She will give an informative presentation of how she rose from PTA and Baseball Mom to Administrative Professional to Councilwoman-At-Large. Ms. O’Rourke has also been Assemblyman Scott Rumana’s Chief of Staff since January, 2008.

The International Education Forum & Annual Meeting is IAAP’s premier event taking place during the summer with over 1800 attendees. This event offers more than 50 education workshops focusing on topics from management skills to leadership development. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the inner workings of the association by attending the business sessions that highlight the association leadership. And don’t forget the numerous networking events that provide social gatherings with your peers. The 2009 Forum is in Minneapolis, Minn. July 26-29 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
